Visprid Capsule contains Rabeprazole Sodium, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid production. This medication effectively treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, and other acid-related gastrointestinal disorders.

Uses

Visprid treats GERD, peptic ulcers, duodenal ulcers, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It’s used for erosive esophagitis healing, H. pylori eradication therapy, and preventing NSAID-induced ulcers. Visprid provides relief from heartburn, acid regurgitation, and stomach pain caused by excess acid.

Benefits

  • Provides rapid and sustained acid suppression
  • Heals and prevents gastric and duodenal ulcers
  • Relieves heartburn and acid reflux symptoms
  • Promotes healing of erosive esophagitis
  • Reduces risk of bleeding from peptic ulcers
  • Helps eradicate H. pylori when combined with antibiotics
  • Prevents NSAID-induced gastric damage
  • Improves quality of life in GERD patients
  • Once-daily dosing for most conditions

How It Works

Visprid works by irreversibly blocking the hydrogen-potassium ATPase enzyme (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells. This action significantly reduces gastric acid secretion for up to 24 hours. By maintaining higher stomach pH, Visprid allows healing of acid-damaged tissues and prevents further acid-related injury.

Dosage

Condition Standard Dosage Treatment Duration
GERD 20mg once daily 4-8 weeks
Peptic Ulcer 20mg once daily 4-6 weeks
H. pylori eradication 20mg twice daily 7-14 days

Take Visprid before meals, preferably in the morning. Swallow capsules whole; do not crush or chew.

Duration of Action

Visprid Capsule begins reducing acid production within 1 hour of administration, with maximum effect occurring within 2-4 hours. Acid suppression lasts up to 24 hours, allowing once-daily dosing. Full therapeutic benefits for ulcer healing typically occur within 2-4 weeks of treatment.

Side Effects

Most patients tolerate Visprid well. Common side effects include headache, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. Some experience dizziness, constipation, or flatulence. Long-term use may increase risk of bone fractures, vitamin B12 deficiency, or Clostridium difficile infections.

Warning

Long-term Visprid use may increase risk of osteoporosis-related fractures, especially in elderly patients. Prolonged therapy may mask symptoms of gastric cancer. Risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea increases with PPI use. Sudden discontinuation after long-term use may cause rebound acid hypersecretion.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

Visprid Capsule should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and benefits outweigh potential risks. Limited data exists on excretion into breast milk. Consult healthcare provider before using Visprid during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Interaction

  • May reduce absorption of drugs requiring acidic environment like ketoconazole
  • Possible increased levels of digoxin and warfarin
  • May interfere with clopidogrel effectiveness
  • Potential interaction with methotrexate increasing toxicity risk
  • Could affect absorption of vitamin B12 and iron supplements

Precaution

Use with caution in patients with severe liver impairment. Monitor for signs of vitamin B12 deficiency during long-term use. Patients with osteoporosis risk should receive adequate calcium and vitamin D supplementation. Gradual dose reduction recommended after prolonged therapy to prevent rebound symptoms.

Important Information

Visprid Capsule is most effective when taken before meals on an empty stomach. Complete the prescribed course even if symptoms improve. Report persistent stomach pain, unusual fatigue, or signs of infection during treatment. Regular monitoring may be required for long-term use. Store at room temperature in original container away from moisture.
